Cross-Cultural Outreach Team Volunteer Coordinator

I am the Volunteer Coordinator for the Cross Cultural Outreach Team or to many of us the mission’s committee. The CCOT is responsible for overseeing what missionaries we support based upon their focus, country of origin, and relationship to our church. The CCOT is working to be a good partner to other efforts in the church that support and serve our short term mission efforts. The CCOT is in a growing and refocusing stage, and we are looking for those who God has called to serve out the Great Commission through being goers or senders.
I have recently taken on this role after moving here from Colorado through my own mission connection. I met my husband Bill on a Guatemala trip where I was serving as a nurse. While I was in Colorado I also served as the coordinator of our mission efforts and had the good fortune to work closely with several large mission agencies including Youth for Christ International. I have many stamps in my passport from the work I have gotten to do on short term trips. God has blessed me with skills as a nurse and as administrator so I have orchestrated several healthcare trips to the Dominican Republic.
I do have another role and that is as professor in health systems leadership at the University of Missouri (yes MO) so I work virtually between here and there every month. I love being back home in IA after more than 25 years of being away. Being back has given me a chance to work and play in good black dirt in our vegetable and flower gardens. WOW, does everything grow here!
