And when Jesus came to earth, died on the cross, and rose from the dead, it made one choice much more clear. It is a choice about the road we’re traveling. One is wide and easy; the other is narrow and rather difficult. One goes with the flow; one goes against the flow. All of Jesus’ teaching from the mountainside indicates that His way turns conventional wisdom on its head. Jesus invites us to make a U-turn and follow that way because it leads to life! Easy? No. Convenient? No. Life-giving? Yes! |
