Ask. Seek. Knock. Jesus wants us to pray. God promises to answer.
But sometimes it seems as though God is not listening. Sometimes we ask for riduculous things and God says NO! And so we give up on prayer.
Does prayer work? Is it worth it? Jesus wants to assure us that we have a heavenly Father who is willing to answer and wise enough to give us what we need. |

Our lives are defined not so much by the places we come from, but rather by the choices we make. And when Jesus came to earth, died on the cross, and rose from the dead, it made one choice much more clear.
It is a choice about the road we’re traveling. One is wide and easy; the other is narrow and rather difficult. One goes with the flow; one goes against the flow.
All of Jesus’ teaching from the mountainside indicates that His way turns conventional wisdom on its head. Jesus invites us to make a U-turn and follow that way because it leads to life! Easy? No. Convenient? No. Life-giving? Yes! |

What do you carry that you use many times a day? What is it that you can depend on in virtually every situation? We would likely call such an item “invaluable.”
How about the Golden Rule? “Treat others as you want to be treated.” So is it really golden? Is it really a rule? An absolute rule?
Jesus says that the Golden Rule is a summary of most of the Bible! That makes it a remarkable and unequaled guide for life. We all have it memorized in one form or another, but how do we really pull it off? It is so significant that we need to get it down into the very fabric of our lives. Let’s go on that journey together.

“Being judgmental is not evaluating an action as either right or wrong, but rather thinking you are not capable of the same.” I have no idea who said that...but it’s really good!
You are about to embark on an adventure that takes you to places you have never been before; gain insight that will change your thinking; find passion that will ignite your heart; receive practicality that will leave you hopeful; indeed, an over-all experience you will never forget: that’s right, next week Pastor Dan will be back. But this week you are stuck with me, yes, “Andy the music guy”, so don’t judge me because that’s what I am going to talk about! So hold on, because if I can’t convince you...I will confuse you. In Jesus name, let all God’s people say ‘Amen’. |
