The families of those who lost loved ones in the devastation of 9/11 have become a powerful lobby. They don’t want anyone to forget. So they are desiring that laws be passed and memorials be built.
Various marks of remembrance fill our world—crosses in ditches, piles of flowers, grave stones, engraved walls.
Jesus actually established a different kind of memorial and told us to practice it regularly. It is a chance to go back in our minds and recapture as much of the reality and significance of the cross as possible. We remember. |

Do you enjoy going to work? You know, that 8 to 5 (or so) thing that results in a paycheck? How are Monday mornings for you? Work takes up a major part of our lives. Perhaps we should analyze how it relates to eternal stuff.
Since we are clear about our mission of “connecting people with God,” maybe you have wondered how your work fits into that. Is work only valuable if it results in people coming to Jesus?
On this Labor Day weekend we will consider how work fits into the big picture. |

We are doing something together that is far greater than any of us could achieve on our own. That is why teams are so important. Isn’t it amazing that God has chosen for us to be included on His team! Following Jesus as our coach ought to be a cake walk!
But “doing team” with each other is another thing.
One more time, what is our mission? And why is it essential that we do it together? How can we make that happen? |

We have finished another summer and are right on the edge of the school year. And most of us are exhausted—like we are in the middle of a war!
Why does it seem that much of life is a battle? On what fronts can we find some relief? How can we set some boundaries for the fall season? What hills are worth taking?
Let’s take time to regroup in the middle of our battle to stay focused in all areas of life—as God would want it. |
