The families of those who lost loved ones in the devastation of 9/11 have become a powerful lobby. They don’t want anyone to forget. So they are desiring that laws be passed and memorials be built.

Various marks of remembrance fill our world—crosses in ditches, piles of flowers, grave stones, engraved walls.

Jesus actually established a different kind of memorial and told us to practice it regularly. It is a chance to go back in our minds and recapture as much of the reality and significance of the cross as possible. We remember.
