listen to the message God came to earth. The sacrifice was made on the cross. The darkness was lifted with the resurrection of Jesus. Death and sin were defeated. But the scene was going to change and the team knew it. The “go to” guy was about to leave. Jesus was headed back to heaven. And the disciples were left with a daunting task—to keep this “good news” thing going, to make an impact on a godless world. They were highly motivated, but where was their help going to come from? Jesus had already promised “Help” but now reality hit. Jesus ascended to heaven and for ten long days those followers of Jesus waited. Then “Help” came! Powerful Help. In dramatic form! We call that Helper the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost. He is the third member of the Trinity. The “quiet” member. What comes to your mind when you think of the work of the Holy Spirit? Why is he here? What is he supposed to be doing? How do you think he is involved in your life? Are we effectively leaning on him? |
