Does it ever cross your mind that we as Christians spend a lot of time “performing” and very little time “practicing”?  If we are ever to be productive in our world, that cannot continue!

What are some of the activities we can practice during our “work-outs”?  These exercises will help us gain power to live life as Jesus taught and modeled it.  They will extend our endurance.  And they are best practiced in community!

We have often called the Holy Spirit the "quiet member of the Trinity." Certainly the Holy Spirit does not draw attention to himself, but he is essential for our mission as followers of Jesus.

If believers have the Holy Spirit in us what does that really enable us to do? What do we have available?

Perhaps we have come to the end of this emphasis on renewal and we wonder where the "downpour" is. I trust it is only beginning. And the hope for it to continue is when we rely on this Holy Spirit power.

Christ on the Cross: GRACE PDF Print E-mail

It doesn’t take long for us to tire of a list of personal failures, mistakes, sins.  (Do you still have that “sin list” around?)  Can you imagine having to hang that around your neck as a reminder for you and everyone else, all the time?

The time has come to review how the cross and the list are connected.  Where do my sins go?  What really happened on the cross, as far as I am concerned?  The cross and grace go hand in hand with the person of Jesus as He deals with my list.

Self In The Dirt: REPENTANCE PDF Print E-mail

Scripture: Acts 3:19; Proverbs 28:13

There are certain words that don’t seem to have a "politically correct" equivalent. One is "repentance." In this day of widely publicized scandals (complete with documentation) there are many words of confession, but it seems it seldom moves into repentance.

Last weekend we identified our sins in need of confession. But confession alone falls short. The actions which bring true transformation include changing our attitude and direction regarding our sins. I just need to pull that off!

Am I sensing some raindrops?
