The cross marked Jesus. It was the driving force of his life, his magnificent obsession. He knew what he had to do, and why he had to do it.
The cross is the best illustration of God’s love. The cross is also a testimony to God’s judgment on sin. At the cross God’s justice and His love meet—and both are satisfied.
Every Christ-follower must come to the cross. There is no way to avoid it. And once we embrace it, it will mark our lives forever. It means we identify with the death of Jesus; it means we repent and accept his sacrifice for our sin; it means we are willing to suffer humiliation for his sake.
Can everyone see the mark of the cross on your life? |

The table was set. The food was being served. Laughter and hearty male voices filled the air. The aroma of the Passover meal was mixed with the lingering scent of the expensive perfume that had recently been poured on Jesus feet.
Then Jesus stands up, removes his outer garment, picks up a towel and kneels at the feet of a disciple. What happens next undeniably scars the hearts of all that were in that room. Can you imagine what that would have been like? How would you feel if Jesus washed your feet?
Jesus tells us to go and do the same. |

Sandwiched between the plots to kill Jesus we find a short story about a woman who took advantage of the limited time she had left with Jesus on earth.
She makes a bold and risky move to show the Messiah what he meant to her. Everyone in the room was watching, but were they all aware of the moment?
Perhaps what one person views as 'capturing time' others would see as a waste of time...and resources. How would you have reacted seeing an entire years wages being dumped out of a broken jar?
The woman had her moment...so do we. |

Early in the week of his crucifixion Jesus is engaged in confrontation and controversy. It almost seems as if Jesus is throwing gasoline on the fire! The antagonism goes from bad to worse. There are no more “friendly dialogues” with the opposition.
And while walking with Jesus we discover what brings out his most intense emotion.
Which of my own actions or attitudes rouse anger in him? |
