The week of Jesus’ crucifixion began rather remarkably—with a great parade, animals, crowds, cheers and all! It seemed that Jesus was on a roll! The momentum was on his side. People were finally realizing who he was.
Or were they? What was really behind the “triumphal entry” into
Jerusalem ?
Assume you are wandering through the crowd watching this demonstration. How does that affect your heart? Is he really the King? |

The Church. That’s what we call our collective selves.
While He was here, Jesus introduced a ‘new direction’ for His work on earth: ‘His church’. He would build His church and the enemy would not be able to stop it.
He handed us the "Keys to the Kingdom", with the power to lock and unlock doors of access, as well as the enormous responsibility that entails. |

Randy Alcorn puts it this way, “God prospers me not to raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving.” Rather concise statement!
If we need a kick-start for our generosity, there is no more appropriate standard than this 10% amount. And this weekend, that is the challenge!
And what are the benefits of a heart of generosity?

When you eat out how do you determine the size of the tip? Amount of service, quality of service, generally accepted practices, example of your dad, on-line “tipping guides”, what you have in your pocket?
When it comes to the offering how do you determine your gift? Andy did really well, temperature was right, Dan let us out on time, free coffee today, parking lot was clean?
We are approaching a “tithe challenge weekend”. What is a tithe anyway? A tip? A standard? How do we decide? |
