In the spirit of Acts 20:24, we need to “testify to the gospel of God’s grace” and “complete the task.” After two years in our new facility, we discovered some gaps—gaps in our ability to create genuine community. We wanted to do a better job of providing community and a sense of belonging for everyone who passes through our doors. Filling the gaps would help us accommodate and assimilate more of those who need the hope of changed lives. 20:24 is our capital campaign to fund the completion of these tasks. What are the financial results of the 20:24 effort? We have received commitments totaling $4,329,990 from 400+ families. As of June 1, 2008, more than 75% of the monies committed have been received. I didn't make a commitment at the start of 20:24 but I want to be part of "Completing the Task". How can I take part? Contact Brad Janowski (our Church Administrator) at the Church office. He can explain how you can take part and can answer any questions you might have. Brad can be reached at 263-3367 or by email at brad@calvaryonline.org. It is not too late to get involved in this effort. What are the major needs? • completing and outfitting areas of our facility that we started to remodel but didn’t finish
o Student Ministries Center (as designed in the master plan, and a section of roof)
o KidzTown (as designed in the master plan) o the Commons o the kitchen and serving area (not full prep, but for storing, warming, serving, and cleaning) o signage • staffing
o a small-group pastor
o an executive pastor o support staff for communication (web page, Internet, print media) o support staff for the facility. • debt retirement
• missions (cross cultural outreach)—ministries of compassion and evangelism in our community and around the world How is the money being apportioned? Based on the latest information we have, here is the plan from our Leadership Board: $450,000 for staffing ($150,000 for each of the next 3 years) $600,000 for facilities construction and remodeling $400,000 for cross-cultural outreach (missions) $2,850,000 for debt retirement What is the timeline for the completion of various parts of 20:24? UPDATED INFORMATION With cash flow projections we have established these targets: 2006—pay off the mortgage **COMPLETED IN NOVEMBER 2006!!!!!!!!! A full TWO months early!!! Way to go!!!** Fall, 2006—have two full time pastors in place **John Messer has been hired as the new Executive Pastor - Fall 2006; Jeff Allgood has been hired as our Small Groups Pastor!! 2007—complete the construction work (priority on the signage and commons) **The new sign is operational and reaching 18,000 cars and their occupants each day with our message. The "Hearth" area of the commons is finished and functioning as a great place for community** 2008—complete the payment of the construction loan (presently $1.4 million) 2006, 2007, 2008—celebrate! How is the remodeling project coming? The repair to the Student Ministries Center roof is complete. The Phase 2 team is making final plans for the other remodeling projects. Priority is being given to those projects which affect the most people, but is dependant upon cash flow. The sign and the hearth projects have been completed. Remaining projects are currently in the planning phase. The Phase 2 team is comprised of Larry Emmert, Kyle Eller, Joni Jackson, Mona Askren, Tom Allen, Brad Janowski, Dan Schoepf Where are we in the search for additional staff? We have found and placed one of the two additional pastoral staff! John Messer (and his wife Sue) has come as our Executive Pastor. Jeff Allgood (and his wife Janet) has joined the staff as our Small Groups Pastor. What is our current debt? $1.4 million is outstanding on the construction loan (5 years remaining). Payments on the long term debt currently are $30,000 per month. Based on the current income from 20:24 we anticipate a balance of between $600,000 and $800,000 remaining on this loan at the end of the campaign. Please be in prayer about how you might be able to continue to give to help retire this debt. Are we planning on any additional debt for these projects? No. We intend to “pay as we go.” Any additional indebtedness would need to be approved by the congregation. Some of the elements of 20:24 need long term support. How do we plan to do that? Two segments of the needs involve one-time funds—finishing the remodeling and debt retirement. Staffing and missions require long term funding. At the end of the three years of 20:24 with the retiring of current debt, resources presently used for debt payments will be available to support staffing and missions to “connect more people with God to be fully committed to the cause of Christ.” |
