“Jesus in the Jar”
On Easter weekend we had dozens of people indicate a desire to “put Jesus in the middle of their lives.” We celebrate that response! Please pray concerning the follow up for these folks. We had 1,670 in attendance (including kids, conservatively). That represents the largest gathering we have ever had at Calvary! Of that number at least 130 were here for the first time. Thanks for bringing your friends and family. It is all part of the joy of connecting people with God.

Baptism/Membership
Charlotte Esmoil told us all about how she ignored God for 40 years until some “Christian” family members helped her understand how she could “belong” again. Last weekend Charlotte officially became a member of Calvary Church. But more importantly, it was a weekend that celebrated the defining moments of the spiritual journeys of a wide variety of people. I just signed the thirty-five certificates that will be sent out to those who were baptized. They represent a group of people who boldly confessed Jesus! And welcome to the new members! It is just like payday!

Baby/Parent Dedication
On Mothers’ Day weekend, May 12-13, the KidZone students will be leading our worship. And we will be having a time for parents to commit their small ones to love God and follow Jesus. If you are interested in participating in that dedication, please contact Penny Brauns at 263-3367 or by email at penny@calvaryonline.org.

Vision Weekend
For several years we have packaged our annual meeting in the form of an entire weekend devoted to celebrating and looking ahead. Reports will be available. We have scheduled that for June 23-24.

Leadership Board
Soon (on our Vision Weekend) it will be time to elect new members to our Leadership Board. Brian Spore and Tom Norton have served very capably in completing their terms. They are not eligible to be re-elected. The nominating committee will begin their work soon. You are welcome to submit names to be considered for these positions on the forms available at the Information Center. Please do not discuss your submission with the person being suggested. The material will be confidential with the nominating committee.

New Signs
Work is going on right now for the installation of our new church sign out front. What an opportunity to make a brief connection with people driving by (at least 16,000 per day!)! Watch the progress.

Liberia
During the month of June three of us will be headed to that great West Africa country! Jill Cawiezell, our director of the Cross Cultural Outreach Team, will be surveying various educational and medical opportunities along with the Centerpoint International initiative. Pastor John Messer (our executive pastor) and I will be facilitating a pastor’s conference for 100 church leaders. Pray for us. I am especially concerned that this trip happens in the middle of the local strawberry season! And I am married to the best grower in the world!

Dan Schoepf is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Church.
