Prayer Guide Feb 1-7

This guide is here to simply help you pray during this week in your groups. It gives some structure and direction so we can center our hearts on loving God, loving others, and receiving His love. It is not meant to be rigid or scripted. Think of it as a helpful framework you can follow or adapt.

Step 1: Welcome, Center, and Listen

Welcome & Connection

  • Welcome everyone and briefly introduce yourselves so the group can connect.
  • Take a moment to settle—silence phones, quiet hearts, and acknowledge God’s presence among us.

Scripture Reading

  • Read the daily Scripture aloud two or three times, slowly.
  • Allow a brief moment of silence between readings.

Guided Reflection (10–15 minutes)

Discuss together:

  • What word, phrase, or image stands out to you?
  • What does this passage reveal about God’s heart?
  • How does this Scripture invite us to live to love today?

Step 2: Guided Prayer — Living to Love

Move through each prayer focus slowly, allowing multiple people to pray aloud or silently. Encourage short, heartfelt prayers.

1. Loving God

Gratitude, worship, surrender

  • Thank God for His love, faithfulness, and presence.
  • Name specific ways you’ve seen God at work—in your life, family, or church.
  • Offer prayers of worship, trust, and surrender.

“Lord, we begin by loving You—because You first loved us.”

2. Loving Others

Intercession, compassion, mission

  • Pray for our nation, its leaders, and those in authority—that they would lead with wisdom, justice, and humility.
  • Pray for the gospel to be proclaimed with freedom and power, especially among those who do not yet know Jesus.
  • Pray for Calvary Church—that God would guide us, strengthen us, and use us to reflect His love.
    • Share and pray over specific church-related needs or ministries.
  • Pray for the needs of those gathered, taking time to lift each request to God.

“Lord, make us a people who love others the way You love us.”

Pray for freedom from shame, anxiety, exhaustion, or fear.

Invite God to shape your heart, renew your mind, and deepen your trust in Him.

3. Loving Yourself

Formation, healing, renewal

  • Take time to pray for personal growth, healing, and rest.
  • Invite God to shape your heart, renew your mind, and deepen your trust in Him.
  • Pray for freedom from shame, anxiety, exhaustion, or fear.
  • Ask God to help you receive His love—not just give it away.

“Lord, teach us to receive Your love so we can live and love from a place of wholeness.”

4. Open Prayer

  • Allow space for any additional prayers the Spirit brings to mind.
  • Encourage listening prayer—being attentive to what God may be saying.
