General Description

The Student Ministries Pastor will lead the Student Ministry, providing guidance and direction to students and their families. The primary role of the Student Pastor is to introduce young people to Christ, disciple them in spiritual growth, and equip them to follow Christ. The Student Pastor also equips parents/guardians to disciple their children.

Job Responsabilities

  • Invest time with students and families to build relationships and minister to them
  • Develop and maintain written, coordinated programs for youth ministries
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff interns and volunteer leaders
    • Maintain a staff/volunteer schedule and communicate with volunteers in advance
    • Create systems and events to recruit, follow-up, and thank student ministry volunteers
  • Oversee Wednesday & Sunday student classes/activities and all student ministry staff and volunteers
  • Encourage and integrate fellowship, discipleship, and evangelism into all student ministry programs
  • Promote church-wide ministry among students, encouraging student ministry participation in church-wide initiatives and events
  • Maintain meaningful contact and participation with parents of students
  • Participate in leadership direction of special missions programs, outreach activities, social events, teaching sessions, and retreats as available
  • Oversee the student ministry's yearly plan and budget, including select special events as needed
  • Actively network with other student ministries around the country
  • Work in tandem and in unity with the adjacent Student Ministry Pastor, carefully coordinating and communicating ministry duties
  • Attend the Director’s Meeting and any additional required staff meetings
  • Additional, related duties as assigned

Requirements & Skillset

  • Ability to understand and relate to students and families (i.e. strong interpersonal skills)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that bring clarity to all student ministry interactions
  • Ability to lead in ministry design and implementation
  • Ability to teach in all student environments
  • Capability to integrate the student ministry with Calvary Church’s ministries and initiatives
  • Collaborative and team-oriented

Education and Experience

  • Bible College Degree
  • Prior experience working with students and training volunteer student ministry staff in a local church setting
  • Experience working with and developing teams
  • Experience shepherding students and parents
